Lecture at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music

  • SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music - B115 Potsdam, NY USA (map)

Lecture at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music, on the topic of practicing solo Bach. Krosnick will outline a bass line-driven method for working on unaccompanied Bach, which can be practiced on any string instrument to aid both in our harmonic listening (for structure, phrase length, and inflection) as well as our physical directness and security at the instrument. The talk will include demonstrations from Krosnick at the cello (illustrating the marrying of bass line-driven listening to specific physical associations at the instrument), as well as a Q&A.

The lecture is entitled "Bass Lines in Bach: Using the Composer's Harmonic Language to Inform our Physical Approach."

Free admission; this lecture is presented as part of SUNY Potsdam's Music Education program.
