Chamber Music with A Far Cry

  • St. John's Episcopal Church 1 Roanoke Avenue Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130 United States (map)

Delighted to join in with the Boston-based conductorless orchestra again this winter, this time for a pair of chamber music concerts in Boston and Jamaica Plain. Their description of the program, entitled “Berlin,” is below, along with more information for ticketing.

I’ll play in the Hindemith 8 Pieces for String Quintet and Kurt Weill’s B minor String Quartet, alongside lovely colleagues new and old: Annie Rabbat, Jae Cosmos Lee, Megumi Stohs Lewis, Tanner Menees, and Evan Premo. Also featured on this program are the terrific AFC musicians and guests Jason Fisher, Michael Unterman, and Tanya Gabrielian.

Chamber Music with the Criers

A Far Cry travels back in time to present a salon-style chamber music program that could have been heard in 1929 Berlin. Before WWII, Berlin was a lively cultural center—It would be impossible for these three composers to predict that their music would be considered as degenerate by the Nazis a few years later. Here, Criers perform rarely heard jewels from a pre-war era that evoke the humor and passion of these master composers.

Paul Hindemith: Overture to The Flying Dutchman Played Badly at 7AM

Paul Hindemith: 8 Pieces for String Quintet, Op. 44 No. 3

Kurt Weill: String Quartet in B Minor

Paul Juon: Piano Sextet, Op. 22
